Numerical Study of the Fish-like Robot Swimming in Fluid with High Reynolds Number: Immersed Boundary Method

Fish-like robots have been widely used in intelligent surveillance and investigation because of their high swimming efficiency low traveling noise. Numerical simulations are usually selected to simulate the movement modes hydrodynamic characteristics fish-like during design manufacture. However, body-fitted grid method traditionally utilized numerical often has difficulty dealing with moving solid boundaries. In this work, immersed boundary method, superior handling conditions, is employed a robot Reynolds number flows combination RANS turbulence model. The first validated using fluid flowing over square block, corresponding results good agreement ones reported reference. Then, swing under three different numbers studied. lift coefficient drag decrease increasing number. This paper provides remarkable support for future designs applications robots.
